Welcome to Cross Country 2011!

Thank you for joining, or re-joining, cross-country this year!

If you're new to running, you might like this quote from Olympic gold medalist, Joan Benoit Samuelson of Cape Elizabeth: 

When I first started running, I was so embarrassed, I'd walk when cars passed me. I'd pretend I was looking at the flowers.

This quote reminds us that we all start at out at different places and levels; but the goal is to challenge ourselves to do our best. Although we have competitive meets, the real objective is get outside and have fun with others.  There is nothing like running in the fall in Maine, especially at such beautiful locations.  Parents are welcome to join in to run, jog, or help with the games.

The first meet is next Wednesday, Sep 21 at 4 pm in Falmouth: Parents, please be sure to carpool to practice and meets (good for the kids, you, your car, and the environment). Runners, be sure to bring your Cape shirt, a water bottle and your running shoes! 

Please note all meets are on Wednesdays at 4 pm:

Falmouth - Sep 21
Cumberland - Sep 28
Cape Elizabeth - Oct 5
Scarborough - Oct 12
Cumberland - Oct 19

The final meet (all groups) will be in Cumberland on Oct 19 (raindate Oct 26).

Please note: directions for Falmouth on the hand-out were written for Exit 53 off 95, or a shorter route, is Exit 10 off 295 - Bucknam Rd to Falmouth Road to Winn Road.
